(II Principle). "pinione.blogspot.com" September 6, 2014. Blogger. September 28, 2014. <http://pinione.blogspot.co.ke/2014/09/political-cartoons-for-week-september-6.html>.

A play upon the trojan horse, in this case Putin's head, is helpful towards the audience to see that this gift simply a facade. The author is showing the lack of authenticity from Russia towards ending the civil war, but instead, using the cease-fires as disguises to input troops and military equipment into Ukraine. The irony is huge in this cartoon, as the head of Putin is supposed to represent peace, yet within the inner workings of the head are machines of war. This is an excellent drawing in conveying the specific message that Russia is lying and trying to hide their attempts to insert Russian soldiers inside Ukraine. I wouldn't change anything in this cartoon, the head is the perfect analogy for the trojan horse, it's also labeled "Putin" is signify Russia, there are tanks inside the head and Ukraine is opening the door. All in all, this is perfect.

Heavy bombardment by forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have killed at least 32 civilians in the northern city of Aleppo, sources told Al Jazeera.
Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said that the attack on Monday, targeted the Al-Shaar neighbourhood in Aleppo city's east, which is controlled by the opposition.
Rahman said 18 civilians were killed, but sources told Al Jazeera that the fatalities were as high as 32.
"A surface-to-surface missile hit the Al-Shaar neighbourhood. People started gathering, and that's when the army fired more missiles at the same area," he said.

Abdel Rahman said dozens of people were wounded and others were still trapped under the rubble.
Images posted online showed screaming men carrying wounded civilians from collapsing buildings.
"The civil defence came here to pull people out of the rubble, put out fires and save people," one emergency worker told AFP news agency.
A man standing next to a destroyed car held his head in his hands as he stared into the lobby of a partly destroyed building littered with debris.
"This is a public market and all of these people were shopping. Every time he (Assad) suffers a defeat, he takes it out on civilians," a resident said.
Russian drones over Syria
Aleppo, once Syria's economic powerhouse, has been devastated by fighting since 2012.
The city is now divided between government control in the west and opposition control in the east.
Much of Aleppo has been left in ruins as regime forces carry out aerial attacks and rebels retaliate, despite criticism of both sides from humanitarian organisations.
Meanwhile, two US officials told Reuters news agency that Russia has started flying surveillance missions with drone aircraft in what appeared to be Moscow's first military air operations in Syria, since staging a rapid buildup at an airfield there.
The US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, could not say how many drone aircraft were involved in the surveillance missions.
The Pentagon declined to comment.

Israeli police storm Al-Aqsa Mosque for a third
day
Clashes erupt after Israeli police raid mosque's courtyards to
support tours for Jewish activists.

Palestinians and Israeli forces clashed at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque for a third straight day, as Israeli forces were seen on the roof of the holy site. Suleiman Ahmad, the president of Jerusalem's Affairs Department, who is currently at the scene, told Al Jazeera that at least 17 Palestinians were injured in the clashes early on Tuesday. "They have placed snipers on the rooftops and are using rubber bullets," Ahmad said. The site of the mosque is revered as holy by Jews and Muslims and is a frequent flashpoint of violence.

Palestinians inside Al-Aqsa threw stones and fireworks at the Israeli forces and set up
barricades to prevent them from closing the entrance to the mosque. The police forces eventually closed the doors to the mosque with the Palestinians still inside. Al-Aqsa courtyard tours, Israeli police are set to allow Jewish activists to tour the courtyards of the mosque, which in the past has stirred angry reactions from Palestinians who fear Israel may change the rules for visiting the Al-Aqsa compound. The tours, which are accompanied by a heavy Israeli police presence, last until 0800 GMT. Azzam Khatib, director of endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque affairs, told Al Jazeera that the violence at the site was worse than in previous days.

"Because of the Palestinians who were present inside the mosque, Israeli police faced
trouble storming it around 7:30am this morning. Police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and
stun grenades," Khatib said. "There was a small fire caused by the stun grenades; all who are present here have extinguished the fire, which took place at the entrance of the mosque."
Abdel Aziz al-Abasi, leader of the Mourabitoun movement that guards the mosque, said
Israeli police have sealed off the compound. "The bigger problem here is that the Israelis are trying to establish a precedent by dividing Al-Aqsa Mosque compound into sections and time segments, so they can give Israeli settlers access to our mosque," Abasi told Al Jazeera. "We will never agree to such plan because it is obvious that the Israelis are trying to take it over piecemeal."

First off, the assaulting and arresting of Islamic believers just to set up Jewish tours is simply unheard off. Hindering someone else's religion and arresting them for resisting because you want tourism to go up is immoral and wrong. Yes, I believe that this news article does have a small bit of bias within it because Al Jazeera is a middle eastern news agency and will likely have many muslims working for it. These religious ties will most certainly play into their writing styles as they portray the Israelis in a negative light against fellow muslim believers. But either way, I think that the actions of Israel show a blatant lack of respect for the Arab community outside their doorstep.
